Comprising over 70 full time employees and between 800 and 1,000 offenders working in various industrial, service and agricultural positions, all of our people have one goal - to MAKE A DIFFERENCE in both the lives of the people who produce our products and our customers who buy them.
With the cooperation and assistance of eight correctional facilities located throughout the state, Prison Enterprises is able to offer our customers a wide variety of industrial and agricultural products.
The mission of Prison Enterprises is to lower the cost of incarceration by providing job opportunities to offenders that instill occupational and skills training, while producing quality products and services for sale to state and local governments, non-profit organizations, political subdivisions and others. Operation of the Prison Enterprises' programs serves to further the Department of Corrections Reentry Initiative by enabling offenders to increase the potential for successful rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
Prison Enterprises, a division of the Department of Public Saftey and Corrections, operates a diversifed group of industry, agriculuture and service programs located at eight correctional facilities throughout Louisiana. Correctional Industries is a unique blend of business and government providing a public service. These programs teach offenders valuable skills as well as work ethic and a sense of responsibility; all of which are vital for eventual re-entry into society. The trades these offenders learn in Prison Enterprises' operations include, but are not limited to: sewing, carpentry, welding, various equipment operation, printing, embroidery, silk screening and farming.
